Is eating chocolate eggs still fun today? Designer Mutian Yu presents a new combination with Smashy, a package of chocolate eggs that brings excitement and surprise. Combining the shape of a hammer and an egg, Smashy offers a unique snacking experience. By smashing the chocolate egg, a variety of sweets, including chocolates, crackers, gummies, and hard candies, are revealed. This innovative design aims to reignite the joy of snacking and add an element of surprise to the familiar.
Smashy is made using plastic and snacks, and its dimensions are 155mm * 183mm * 76mm. The design team, led by Mutian Yu, worked on this project for three months during the summer of 2020 in Savannah, GA, US. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the team successfully overcame obstacles to create this delightful package.
Snacking is not just about satisfying hunger; it often serves as a source of comfort and celebration. Smashy recognizes this and aims to provide more than just calories. By combining the shape of a hammer with the form of a chocolate egg, Smashy offers an interactive and engaging snacking experience. Users can smash the chocolate egg anywhere they like, unleashing a variety of snacks to suit their mood and emotions.
Recognizing the need for innovation in the snacking industry, Smashy has been awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Smashy's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contributes to a better world, providing fulfillment and positive feelings to snackers everywhere.
